How do I care for my new succulent?
Essential Care and Tips for Succulents:
Place: keep on a sunny windowsill, on a trellis covered patio with filtered light or under a grow light. No direct sun!
All varieties can grow indoors or outdoors. If placing outdoors bring in during cold frosty days.
Plants need shade over 85F
Water: only water when soil is fully dry & leaves are flexible.
Water until water comes out the bottom of the pot.
No misting
When in doubt, don’t water yet. It’s best to go without watering, over watering can cause root rot and the plant can easily die.
Transplant: with gritty, rapidly draining soil. Peridot will have this soil available or you can purchase a succulent mix at the any garden center.
Only use pots with drainage holes.
Your new succulent will grow and adjust to new conditions. Lower leaves can become dry and crispy and fall off. This is normal. If your succulent becomes long and stretches out it needs more light.
How do I care for my Air Plant?
Essential Care and Tips for Air Plants:
Air plants are epiphytes, plants that grow on other plants, rocks and structures and do not need soil to live.
Place: Air plants need daily bright, indirect light. Typically, a kitchen window is ideal, or a living room near a window. Windowless rooms such as bathrooms are not a good home for your airplant.
Air plants take in nutrients through their leaves, not the roots. The roots attach the plant to the host tree or rock.
Water: It’s best to water your air plant once a week by giving it a thorough rinse under running water or letting them soak in a bath of water for 20-30 minutes. It’s very important that after you do this to gently shake all excess water from the air plant and let it dry upside down on a towel or tray before placing back in it’s special place. If you don’t do this the inside of the base of the air plant will rot and die.
In between the soak or thorough rinse you can mist your air plant’s leaves lightly every 2-3 days. Wrinkled or rolled leaves can be a sign of dehydration and this mist will help in between watering.
A plant in bloom should be misted and not soaked.
***Do not used distilled water. Spring or rainwater is best for your air plant.***
Fertilize: You do not need to but it can help your air plant thrive if you fertilize it. Once a month is plenty. You can skip or fertilize less often in winter and fall. Use a bromeliad or air plant specific fertilizer or water-soluble orchid fertilizer diluted to 1/4 strength. Use the fertilizer in your mister.
Lifecycle: Air plants have a life cycle! They bloom once in their lifetime, it signals a change. After blooming the “mother” plant will slowly decline over several months and will start to produce “pups”, tiny baby air plants that grow at the base. Eventually the mother plant will die and the pups will live on. You can separate them once they are about 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the mother plant. Or you can keep them in a clump.
Return Policy:
As of now we are adopting a simple return policy until our store opens.
We will not accept returns on plants! We will however address any issues beyond your control with your new plant within a reasonable amount of time after your purchase.
This will be dealt with on a case by case basis. To address your issue we will need proof of purchase due to our honor system payments at Tupp’s Brewery. If you do not have this available we will not be able to address your issue. Thank you for your understanding.
We want you to love your new plant friends! If you have ANY issues please contact us so we can make it right!
